Phantoms | 2025

The project “Phantoms” emerged from a spontaneous walking art practice — a two-day exploration of an area of small lakes, where movement itself became a way of seeing and understanding the landscape.

At its core are trees killed by crude human intervention. They are remnants of the Anthropocene. Reflections in the water, together with pareidolia, give rise to the illusion of new beings. The silhouettes of the trees take on mythical shapes, evoking spirits and totemic figures. The authors turn the document into a metaphor: the dead tree becomes a living image, and reflection becomes an act of resurrection.

The project operates at the intersection of contemporary art, landscape photography, and ecological observation. Rather than condemning, the authors highlight — both literally and metaphorically. The glow added to the images turns the visual trace into an ecological signal — muted yet persistent, reminding us of the fragility of a disappearing landscape.

The series becomes a quiet statement about responsibility and shared belonging.
